Chair of the firm’s litigation practice group, Paul is a trial lawyer with emphasis in matters involving valuation for closely held businesses, commercial litigation, shareholder/member disputes, directors and officer liability actions, and the defense of accountants and attorneys malpractice actions.
Paul’s concentration on business valuation covers a broad spectrum of disputes in which the value of a closely-held business becomes important, including: divorce actions (limited to valuation issues), shareholder/member disputes, post-acquisition disputes, shareholder/member oppression, lock-outs, dissenters’ rights/appraisal actions, freeze-out mergers, and officer/director liability actions, among other business-related disputes.
In 2005, he began taking course work necessary to become accredited as a Certified Business Appraiser (CBA) through the Institute of Business Appraisers. He has completed the course work, has passed the written exam, and is currently working on preparing business valuation reports for submission for peer review, which is the final step toward earning his CBA designation.
Paul’s litigation practice includes trials in various state and federal courts. He is also experienced in various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including facilitative mediation and arbitration.
