John M. Lichtenberg
John Lichtenberg is a shareholder
at Rhoades McKee and has served for seven years on the
Firm’s Executive Committee. He handles a wide range of
litigation matters, and has extensive experience and
expertise in labor, employment and employee benefit matters,
as well as in complex property tax litigation. He is
admitted to practice in both state and federal courts
throughout Michigan, as well as the United States Court
of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States
Supreme Court. He graduated from Michigan State University
in 1975 with high honors, and received his Juris Doctorate,
summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University College
of Law in 1980.
Mr. Lichtenberg regularly counsels
business clients on a broad range of employment law matters
and disputes, and has significant experience working
with management in union avoidance programs, union election
campaigns, contract bargaining (including concession
bargaining for financially troubled companies), contract
administration, and arbitration. His property tax litigation
experience includes significant involvement in (to date)
the largest industrial property tax dispute in Michigan
history.
Mr. Lichtenberg is the Board Chair
of Network 180, the public coordinating agency for the
delivery of mental health, substance abuse, and developmental
disability services for Kent County, and is a past Board
Chair and current Board member for the Mental Health
Foundation of West Michigan.
