Mary Ann Cartwright
Born September 21, 1950. Grand Valley
State College BS, 1972; Thomas M. Cooley Law School,
JD, 1977. Admitted to Michigan bar 1978. Recipient of
Am. Jur. Labor Law Book award. Ms. Cartwright practices
in both public and private sector in a variety of employment,
labor, health care and school law related areas. Prior
to joining Rhoades McKee in 1981, Ms. Cartwright worked
for the City of Kalamazoo handling a variety criminal
and civil litigation matters.
Ms. Cartwright has experience
in insurance defense, including medical malpractice and
workers compensation. However, her primary practice areas
are Labor and Employment Law, School and Public Sector
Law, Health Care Law, and Workers Compensation Law. She
represents public, private and non-profit organizations
and handles litigation in administrative, state and federal
courts.
Her practice involves working with
and counseling clients on a frequent basis relative to
the following areas of law: EEOC/MDCR complaints and
procedures, MIOSHA/OSHA regulations and policy development,
DOT regulations, FLSA, FMLA and Department of Labor regulations
and development of policies, Affirmative Action Plans
(OFCCP compliance), National Labor Relations regulations,
HIPAA, Health Care and various other employment and labor
related issues as they relate to State and Federal Regulations.
She a frequent speaker on all types of labor and employment
topics including but not limited to: Sexual Harassment,
Family Medical Leave, Union Campaigns, Fair Labor Standards
Act, American with Disabilities Act and Workers Compensation.
Ms. Cartwright serves on a number
of non-profit boards and is active in a variety of community
activities.
